Tax debt statute of limitations: review and DGI application
An old tax debt requires examining the tax, periods and actions in the file. We review that background to determine whether there are grounds to request recognition that it is time-barred before the DGI.
Kenia Rodríguez coordinates tax inquiries and documents with the legal team. You can start with the account statement, a communication you received or the receipts you have kept.

How we proceed
Your consultation, step by step
We organize the background information
We identify the tax, periods and available documents. Kenia coordinates inquiries and gathers communications, receipts and other background information that allow the legal team to understand the situation before proposing a course of action.
We assess the grounds
The legal team analyzes the applicable limitation period and relevant actions according to their dates and content. Based on that review, we explain whether there are grounds to request recognition that the debt is time-barred or whether the documents reveal another matter requiring attention.
We submit and review
If appropriate and the service is agreed, we prepare the petition and follow up on requests. We examine the scope of the decision and subsequent steps, including the tax account when that verification is part of the engagement.
For your consultation, have these ready
You can start with what you have available. We help you identify the missing information.
- Account statement or communication identifying the tax and periods you wish to review.
- Payment receipts, agreements and communications related to the debt, together with the dates available.
- For property obligations, property details and available documents on ownership and representation.

Age alone does not resolve the case
Limitation requires analyzing the applicable period and possible grounds for interruption or suspension. Simply counting years from when the balance arose is not enough. Payments, agreements and actions are examined according to their date, content and legal regime. Before recommending a decision on the debt, we explain what that background shows.
How the application is supported
If we find grounds, the petition identifies the tax and periods requested. For property obligations, the DGI requires proof of ownership and that the property is up to date with ANATI. We also review representation and the applicant's requirements. A supported application does not guarantee that the debt will be removed.
What we verify after the decision
We examine which periods were addressed, which subsequent steps apply and, when included, how the result is reflected in the account. A misapplied payment or incorrect property identification may require a correction distinct from limitation; we explain that difference before proposing another procedure.
